“Mačkov bermet Discretion” hides a wealth of aromas arising from the merger of wine and a few dozen spices and aromatic plants.

A sweet bite from Fruška Gora: Dessert wine from Tomcat Wine Cellar

While dry white, rose and red wines from Fruška gora are already well known, dessert wines represent a special, often hidden gem that is only occasionally discovered. Although they are not the focus of mass production, the dessert wines of Fruška Gora have great potential thanks to the terroir that produces beautiful, fruity wines.

Tomcat's Wine Cellar: The sweetest for the end

In the Tomcat’s winery, the focus is primarily on dry and varietal wines. But at the same time, determined to preserve the tradition of our region, we rounded off the line of wines from autochthonous varieties and from Portugieser, with one sweet wine – bermet Diškrecija.

Bermet is an increasingly popular sweet wine that originates from Fruška gora, and is made on the basis of wine, with the addition of dozens of herbs and aromatic plants. Sweet, drinkable, captivating with its charm, it quickly became a favourite in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Why Diškrecija? This word comes from the Latin word discretio, and in everyday speech it means attentiveness, consideration and consideration in speech and behaviour. However, in the history of Fruška gora, it also had another meaning. As the bermet enjoyed increasing popularity, Serbian statesmen, church oficials and wealthy citizens under Austria and Hungary took a certain amount of bermet to important audiences in order not to encourage the making of positive decisions for our people, which was then called "discretion". Also, you can let your imagination run free as to what else can be discreet!

Tomcat's bermet Diškrecija hides a wealth of aromas. It has a typical bermet sweetness, notes of cinnamon, cloves, red berries and a bit of wormwood, but it also has an unusual light structure and drinkability.

Gastronomic potential: Tomcat’s sweet wine is not only for dessert; it is a dessert in itself.
